Building Relationships Through Tradition at GNP

Our Council, alongside members from our on-reserve community, recently came together to install two traditional tipis at Grasslands National Park - East Block. It was a wonderful day filled with teamwork, shared knowledge, and community spirit.

We greatly appreciate the strong and positive relationship we have built with the staff at Grasslands National Park. Opportunities like this allow us to celebrate our culture, strengthen our partnership, and share our traditions with visitors from near and far. Everyone involved participated with enthusiasm and pride, making the installation a truly meaningful experience.

We are excited to announce that this will become an annual tradition. Each year, before the Summer Solstice, we will gather to raise the tipis together, and we warmly invite all community members to join us. Whether you have experience putting up tipis or simply want to learn and take part, everyone is welcome.

As a reminder, Grasslands National Park is open for the 2026 season from May 1 through October 12. Admission is free for First Nations visitors, making it a great opportunity to explore the park, connect with the land, and enjoy everything it has to offer.

For more information about the park, including hours, activities, camping, and visitor information, please visit: https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/sk/grasslands

We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come and thank everyone who helped make this year's tipi raising such a memorable success.
